Employers talked about obstacles to the development of companies
Chief Labour Inspector Bożena Borys-Szopa, accompanied by the Chairman of
Labour Protection Council, MP Stanisław Szwed and Deputy Chief Labour Inspector
Anna Tomczyk, took part in the 1st Congress of Employers held in Warsaw on 17
January 2008.

Such a large meeting of representatives of business circles has taken place for
the first time ever. Its objective was to develop a common position on
modernisation of the Polish economy and the development of our country. The
Congress was organized by six organizations: Polish Confederation of Private
Employers “Lewiatan”, Confederation of Polish Employers, Polish Business
Roundtable, Polish Craft Association, American Chamber of Commerce in Poland,
and Polish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Together they represent
about 43 thousand companies that employ 3.5 million employees – more than half
of the total working population in establishments.
The Congress inauguration ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister Donald
Tusk. He announced the government’s efforts to improve the image of
entrepreneurs and the introduction of measures in order to facilitate economic
activity. The Congress resulted in signing of a special declaration in which
employers demand amendments to legal provisions and – as they wrote – “to be
treated by public institutions like all other citizens”.
