National Labour Inspectorate in the Republic of Poland and National Labour
Inspectorate in the Slovak Republic concluded the Protocol on Cooperation in the
field of occupational safety and health and labour protection. The document was
signed by Bożena Borys-Szopa, Chief Labour Inspector and Andrej Gmitter,
Director General of the Slovak labour inspection, in the presence of their
closest co-workers. The ceremony took place in Warsaw on 8 February 2008.

The agreement stipulates, among others, development of cooperation between both
offices in the field of exchange of experts, experience and information on the
practical side of implementing Community directives on work safety and health,
organization of international training sessions and joint inspection actions of
both offices. The ceremony of signing the protocol was the culmination of the
two-day study visit of the Slovak labour inspection’s delegation to our country.
The visit was organized following the Chief Labour Inspector’s invitation; its
first day was spent by our Slovak guests on working meetings at individual
departments at the Chief Labour Inspectorate. Our partners from Slovakia were
particularly interested in the NLI’s preventive and promotional activity,
including informational and educational campaigns targeted at social partners.
Moreover, topics of interest to them comprised: legality of employment and the
role of National Labour Inspectorate as a liaison office within the system of
exchanging information on the employment terms of employees posted to work in
the territory of another EU Member State. At the Analyses and Statistics
Department Slovak labour inspectors became acquainted with the rules of
collecting and processing of data from inspection and supervisory activities of
our office, and at the Occupational Hazards Department they discussed the issues
of employee training on work safety and health.
The Slovak Republic is yet another country – after Bulgaria, Czech Republic,
Lithuania and the German Land of Brandenburg with which National Labour
Inspectorate has concluded similar agreements.
