SAWO Grand Prix from the Chief Labour Inspector
Between 22 – 25 April 2008 a subsequent, XIX in turn edition of International
Fair of Work Protection, Fire-Fighting and Rescuing Equipment ,,SAWO 2008” TOOK
PLACE IN Poznań. The fair gathered over 180 exhibitors from 19 countries.
Manufacturers of best products, protecting employees against harmful and
dangerous factors appearing in working environment were awarded Grand Prix and
SAWO Gold Medal during the ceremonial opening of the event.

Bożena Borys-Szopa, Chief Labour Inspector, awarded SAWO Grand Prix in
the category of individual protection to company SECURA B.C. Sp. z o.o. from
Warsaw for cleaning equipment with a hood to be used in case of a fire ,,SECURA
2000 POŻ./S/14 and in the category of control and measuring apparatus to company
GAZTEX – Drzewiecki Sp. j. from Warsaw for modular system of toxic and explosive
gas detection. While congratulating the awarded, Bożena Borys-Szopa emphasized
the importance of new technical solutions, including the importance of personal
protection equipment in improvement of working conditions and safety of the
employed.
Rich exhibition, especially of personal protection equipment and fire protection
items, recognized national and international exhibitors, numerous new products
as well as interesting program of the conference all served as a showcase of
this year’s fair.

The stand of National Labour Inspectorate offered a wide range of institution’s
publications, legal and technical counseling and a multimedia presentation was
given about safety of work.

Popular among visitors was the seminar organized by the inspectorate: ,,Manual
handling of loads – good practices”. Lectures were given by the invited
representatives of labour inspectorates from The Netherlands and United Kingdom.
Ms Inge Jonker, senior labour inspector from The Netherlands, presented the
effects of the European SLIC campaign ,,Manual Handling of Loads” in year 2007.
Ms Susan Parkyn, senior inspector from the British labour inspectorate, spoke of
the experiences of her country in eliminating manual handling of loads in
construction industry”.
