September-December 2006. Start of educational programme
“Safety Culture” in post-gymnasium schools
Caring for the safety of young people who are preparing
themselves to start their first job, National Labour
Inspectorate is about to launch this educational programme for
post-gymnasium schools. The “Safety Culture” programme’s aim is
to prepare young people for the transition from school to
working life which awaits them – by providing them with
information concerning work safety as well as employee rights.
Supporting materials for teachers have been developed by the
Central Institute for Labour Protection after a thorough
analysis of tasks assigned to schools within the safety and
health curricula. Considering the variety of schools and levels
of education in post-gymnasium schools, one common programme has
been developed to serve as the basis for several or more
individually planned classes. Such programmes are already
carried out in other European Union countries with good results.
”Young Workers – Safe Start” campaign has been launched
The campaign ”Young Workers – Safe Start”, launched at the press
conference in the seat of National Focal Point of the European
Agency for Safety and Health at Work, will last until October
2006. National Labour Inspectorate and other partners will carry
out many activities also after the date of official summing up
and closing of this European campaign. It is addressed to young
workers, their employers and young people who are just about to
enter the labour market – students in post-gymnasium schools.
Labour inspection has prepared leaflets for them, presenting
comprehensible information about the provisions on concluding
employment contracts, working time and remuneration, training
and the rules of conduct in the case of a work accident. In the
leaflet for employers one can find hints and advice on
supervising and caring for young employees and the ways of
securing safe working conditions for them. All publications are
placed on our internet website prepared specially for the young.
It also comprises, among others, information about the current
campaign-related events in district labour inspectorates
throughout Poland, press releases for journalists, and recorded
talks on employee rights (in mp3 files).
More information about actions of other organisations involved
in the campaign ”Young Workers – Safe Start” can be found at the
