Dear teachers and tutors!
Keeping
in mind safety of young employees, who fell victim to accidents
much more frequently than workers employed for a longer time,
the National Labour Inspectorate launches the educational
programme “Safety Culture” targeted at the learners of
post-gymnasium schools. The programme aims at preparing young
people for transition from school life to working life which
awaits them – providing them with the information concerning
work safety as well as the employee rights. A set of materials
to be used during the programme has been prepared by The Central
Institute for Labour Protection after a thorough analysis of
tasks set to schools within the safety and health curricula.
Considering the variety of schools and levels of education in
post-gymnasium schools, one common programme has been developed
to serve as the basis for several or more individually planned
classes. Such programmes are carried out in the European Union
with good results.
A set of materials necessary to prepare classes consists of a
handbook and a CD. It includes draft classes and exemplary tests
for learners as well as comprehensive clarifications of
regulations and examples of good practices.
Teachers interested in running the educational programme are
most welcome to visit district labour inspectorates.
Unfortunately the number of places is limited – the order of
applying will decide. During the training courses in September
the participants will become acquainted with detailed objectives
of the programme and will be given auxiliary materials. In the
course of the programme tutors will receive additional
assistance from labour inspection, for example in the form of
legal assistance or visits paid by our labour inspector to one
of the classes. All teachers and schools taking part in the
programme will receive the certificates of participation issued
by the National Labour Inspectorate.
The educational programme is a part of a “Safe start” campaign
coordinated by the National Focal Point of the European Agency
for Safety and Health at Work.
In our opinion, the implementation of the programme “Safety
Culture” will prepare young workers for taking up their first
jobs. Many of them will avoid accidents, caused by the lack of
knowledge and consciousness of occupational hazards. Your
learners will be able to enforce their employees’ rights in a
much better and more efficient way.
