Janusz Krasoń

Professional career and specialisation

Between 1983 and 1990, he worked as deputy director of the Department of Youth, Physical Culture and Tourism at the Province Governor’s Office in Wrocław.

Between 1998 and 2001, he served as a councillor on Wrocław City Council. From 1997 to 2001, he sat on the supervisory board of Radio Wrocław S.A. He was a Member of the Parliament during the 4th, 5th and 6th terms. He served three terms on the Labour Protection Council and on the State Control Committee, acting as Deputy Chair of the Committee. He was the lead co-author, chair of the sub-committee on and rapporteur for the committee’s draft of a major amendment to the Act on the State Labour Inspection in 2011. He sat on the sub-committee working on the presidential draft bill on the State Labour Inspection in 2007.

He has been associated with the State Labour Inspection since 1990. Between 1990 and 2001, he served as Director of the State Labour Inspection Training Centre. Whilst heading the Centre, which at that time operated as a budgetary institution, he developed training programmes aimed at the social partners and employees of the Occupational Health and Safety Service, in addition to his work for the State Labour Inspection.

He was the driving force behind the SLI’s participation in the PHARE programme (Poland and Hungary: Assistance for Restructuring their Economies), as a result of which the Authority received substantial support in preparing the Inspection to meet EU requirements, including language internships in Glasgow, the provision of printing equipment to the Inspection, and practical training workshops for inspectors, delivered by experts from selected EU countries.

He also initiated the establishment of the RIIFT Network, which brings together institutes and centres from over a dozen European countries involved in the training and professional development of labour inspectors.

The model for the preparatory course for labour inspectors, developed on his initiative, remains the basis for this process to this day.

In 2011, he was once again appointed Director of the State Labour Inspection Training Centre. At that time, he initiated a greater role for the Centre in the practical training of future inspectors, as well as compulsory periodic training for all inspectorate staff.

From 2018, he worked at the District Labour Inspectorate in Wrocław. In addition to his duties as a Data Protection Officer, he was involved in prevention work, including in the sector of small-scale farming. Among the initiatives he proposed were, for example, providing advice to Ukrainian citizens in cooperation with the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Poland, as well as collaborating with organisations and institutions working with farmers.
