Görlitz, 14-15 November 2018 – Polish and German conference on labour protection
On 14-15 November 2018 a Polish and German conference on labour perotection was held in Görlitz, Germany. Poland was represented by Prof. Danuta Koradecka, Director of the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute, and Bogdan Drzastwa, Deputy Chief Labour Inspector. The German delegation was led by Bruno Zwingmann, Managing Director of the Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft für Sicherheit und Gesundheit bei der Arbeit).
The main topic the periodic meetings held in the framework of the Polish-German dialogue since 2012 is occupational safety in construction, with special attention paid to issues related to asbestos removal in light of the Polish and German legislations, as well as requirements for personal protective equipment in this sector. This year’s meeting was also focused on these issues. The participants discussed labour protection strategies implemented in Poland and in Germany and identified challenges for work safety in the evolving world witnessing the next industrial revolution.
On behalf of the National Labour Inspectorate, presentations were made by representatives of the Supervision and Inspection Department at the Chief Labour Inspectorate. Katarzyna Mietelska talked about labour protection in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, with regard to current tasks of the NLI. Sylwia Oziembło-Brzykczy, supported by Thomas Gehrke from the Ministry of Labour, Women and Family in Brandenburg, presented the efforts of the Polish-German Team of Experts on Asbestos and discussed differences and similarities between requirements for working with asbestos in Poland and in Germany.
