The State Labour Inspection hosted a meeting of the Senior Labour Inspectors Committee (SLIC), which took place in Warsaw on 14-15 May 2025 under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Representatives of labour inspection management from the EU Member States, of the European Commission, of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as well as observers and invited experts met to discuss safety in EU labour markets.

“I hope that this two-day meeting will further strengthen our international cooperation for the broader protection of workers in Europe and will be an opportunity for all of us to gain further valuable professional experience and new expert knowledge,” said the Chief Labour Inspector Marcin Stanecki

On the first day of the meeting, it is customary to hold a closed plenary session of the Committee on internal affairs. Reports from the working groups, the effects of the SLIC campaigns or the actions taken by the inspections of individual EU countries are discussed there.

The second day of the meeting is the Thematic Day, which this year was held under the theme ‘Good practices in inspection and non-inspection work of labour inspectorates (2014-2023) – an updated SLIC code of good practices, with a focus on inspection activities/campaigns’.

The Code of Good Practices, a brochure in English which has been prepared specially for this occasion, presents selected inspection activities of labour inspectorates in EU countries – relevant in terms of their impact, effectiveness and educational potential. The Code is accompanied by a website in English, containing also descriptions of other activities that the inspectorates of the individual countries of the Community have been willing to share. The material is available at the link: https://slicgoodpractices.eu/

“The development of the Code of Good Practices has cost us a great deal of effort and I hope that it will be an inspiration to all those interested in improving the effectiveness of labour inspectors in the European Union. The value of learning from each other is our great asset. This is also the mission of SLIC,” said the head of the State Labour Inspection.

SLIC stands for Senior Labour Inspectors Committee, it was established in 1982. Operating under the auspices of the European Commission, it brings together all national inspectorates in the European Union. SLIC carries out transnational activities in the European labour market. It is chaired by the European Commission representative Charlotte Grevfors Ernoult.
