The European Agency for Occupational Safety and Health (EU-OSHA) operates a database with resources for the management of risks from chemical agents at workplaces. The main aim of the database is to support OSH practitioners in companies by giving access to information and tools that are useful for managing chemical risks at the workplace. In addition, OSH services, occupational health physicians, employers and policy makers are invited to use the database and find useful information on OSH for their context and work.

Whoever is looking for general or specific information on chemical risks in the workplace can search the database, identify relevant guidance documents and tools, and access them via the provided URLs.

The database provides links to more than 900 resources, such as websites, checklists, case studies, visual materials or databases. Each resource is presented with a short content description. Key words are used to describe the content, e.g. regarding the exposure pathways, prevention measures, hazards or substances considered by the guidance or tool. There are very broad resources, such as guidance documents on how to perform risk assessments at the workplace as well as very specific ones, such as for example tools that help to select appropriate gloves or videos explaining how to use local exhaust ventilation to reduce dust exposure in woodworking.

The tools and guidance documents listed in the database are developed and owned by international and European providers as well as national ones. The types of resource providers range from EU and Member State authorities to research institutions and international organisations, NGOs and business associations. The database is updated regularly, and new resources are constantly added.

The database can be filtered using several categories, including “country”, “language”, “sector”, “prevention measures”, or topics such as “carcinogens” or “substitution”, or via a free-text search. The results of a search or filtering of the database for particular topics can be exported as csv for further analysis. Almost all linked resources can be accessed free of charge.

Explore the database and check out how it can support you in your work!
