On the legality of employment with visitors from Moldova

In Warsaw on 24 May 2019 Bogdan Drzastwa, the Deputy Chief Labour Inspector, met the interdepartmental delegation of the Republic of Moldova headed by Anastasia Oceretnii, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection.


The main theme of the meeting, initiated by the Moldovan party, was – amongst others – the powers of the National Labour Inspectorate with regard to verifying the legality of employment and working conditions of foreigners in Poland as well as the activities of private employment agencies. The representatives of the Moldovan delegation were especially interested in the tools and methods of conducting inspections applied by NLI labour inspectors to verify the legality of foreigners’ employment, and the procedures governing the selection of employment agencies for the purpose of inspection. Moreover, the Moldovan party acquainted itself with the inspection results concerning the a/m subjects.

The Director of the Legality of Employment Department, Jarosław Leśniewski, presented a summary of the Labour Inspection’s ten year fight with the illegal employment in Poland. He also discussed the principles and objectives of bilateral cooperation of NLI with appropriate institutions in the area of labour protection in Poland and abroad, later on he presented examples of preventive and informative actions of the National Labour Inspectorate.


The meeting with the Moldovan delegation was also attended by Marta Chodorowska, the Head of the International Relations Unit in the Chief Labour Inspector’s Cabinet, and  Dorota Gorajska, chief specialist at the Legality of Employment Department. The Moldovan delegation also consisted of the representatives of the International Organisation for Migration.
